Mobility Bathroom FAQs

Age Care Bathrooms are completely independent, meaning that our highly trained team will carry out ALL of the work from start to finish. Unlike some of our competitors, we do not contract out any stage of a mobility bathroom installation.

We hold extremely high standards and we don’t trust subcontractors to complete a job with the same attention to detail as we do. When it comes to mobility bathrooms, we are the experts so the full installation including plumbing, electrics, joinery, flooring and even waste removal, is handled by our team.

In many cases we take as little as 3 days to fit mobility bathrooms from start to finish. We strive to be efficient and we are able to do things quickly because we do not have to wait on external contractors such as plumbers or electricians, which can slow the process down.

Since each mobility bathroom that we fit is unique, the duration of the installation may differ depending on factors such as the size and style of your bathroom, as well as any individual features which you may have chosen to be included. Due to high demand there is typically a waiting time of a few weeks from your initial enquiry.

The earlier you enquire, the sooner we can start fitting!

Of course! We will work to your requirements, which involves our team assessing the dimensions of your bathroom and advising on the best solution, based on the space available.

Our team has fitted mobility bathrooms into some extremely small spaces before and we always strive to meet the needs of the individual. We love a challenge, so with careful planning and design, we are sure we will come up with a creative and flawless solution to make the best use of your space.

A mobility bathroom is a bathroom which is tailored to the requirements of an elderly or disabled user. There are 3 main types of showering aids for you to choose between: a walk in shower, a level access shower or a walk in bath. It comes down to a matter of personal preference and which would be best suited to your mobility needs.

For example, we typically recommend walk in showers for wheelchair users, as they offer completely unrestricted access across the whole room.

Once you’ve chosen which type of mobility bathroom you would like, there are countless different styles and optional extras which you can add to make it unique and to your taste.

We install mobility bathrooms with safety as our main priority. So safety grab bars, assistance poles, non-slip flooring, seating, safety glass and easy to use taps are all available as standard.

If there are any extra specific features which you require for your mobility needs, we can discuss these with you during our initial consultation. We tailor our mobility bathrooms to the customer, so if you have a certain requirement, just ask!

We take pride in always going the extra mile for the client, to make sure their mobility bathroom is everything they want and need it to be.

At Age Care Bathrooms we have over 20 years combined experience in designing and fitting mobility bathrooms for the elderly and disabled. We understand that each individual is unique and has their own specific care requirements. Your care needs are our number one priority, which is why we are always considerate with every customer and strive to come up with a solution that meets all of your requirements.

We will be there for each step of your Age Care Bathrooms journey, from your free quote to installation. You are in control. We know how important bathroom safety is, making sure our customers are content with the services they receive and making their lives just that little bit easier.

We take care to cause as little disruption as possible to your home. This means putting down dust sheets to protect your floor, cleaning up the mess and the old bathroom parts, as well as being considerate when moving around your home.

There will be some noise and disruption during the installation, but we will do all we can to keep this to a minimum. We work quickly on site to get your mobility bathroom installed in as little time as possible.

As each mobility bathroom we install is unique, we will provide you with a free, no obligation consultation and quote specific to your bathroom. Being independent, we are able to offer very competitive quotes, as our costs do not need to cover subcontractors such as plumbers and electricians.

Along with your quote we can provide a 3D virtual design of what your bathroom will look like, so you can see exactly what you are getting for your money. For many, having a mobility bathroom is a way to extend their years in their own home and is a small investment when compared to the costs of moving into a care home.

Yes. We understand that those with limited mobility need a bathroom that is not only easy to use, but easy to maintain as well. For instance we can install waterproof, maintenance-free walls and ceilings that will be resistant to damp and mould. Our mobility bathrooms are designed with low maintenance in mind, for your convenience.

The difference between a walk in a shower and a full wet room is the shower tray (or lack of). In the case of a wet room, it is completely open plan, offering unrestricted access to all areas. The water flows down through a drain in the floor.

With a walk in shower, there is a shallow tray that the user needs to step into. The water is contained within this tray and there is usually a door or cover around it to stop the water spilling out.

Whether you choose a walk in shower or wet room will depend on your level of mobility, and your style preferences. If you are in a wheelchair, a wet room is recommended for completely unrestricted access.
